Learned Music Theory and its Use to Guitar Playing

Learning music theory is needed for all dedicated musicians even if they know how to play instruments or sing even without knowing how to read music sheets. There is none you could ask if you can use your talent right? Even if you are an excellent musician or if you can play instruments well or if you join a band, chances are greater that you can be able to express so much more of your music even better if you know how to apply the basics of music theory.
Before you decide crucial matters regarding taking up music theory, here is an analogy that is very helpful especially if you’re deciding. Apparently, not all people are intended to become writers. Only few people can write and translate their thoughts in poetry and prose. A writer can use as an additional tool that enables to effectively express his thoughts and ideas the knowledge of the details of language such as grammar and vocabulary. Being truly relaxed with wordplay requires that you know the grammar of your language first. One’s familiarity in language can truly enrich a writer’s sense on the art of writing. But having to know the ins and outs of language and grammar does not mean that one can be a writer that easily.
Someone who likes to cook is a perfect. Somebody can naturally understand how ingredients work, how a combination of taste and flavors can turn into a wonderful dish. But this gift for understanding tastes and flavors can be enhanced if one can manage to go to a cooking school and learn the basics of cooking. It provides a more structured approach to learning and would make sense of the things which come spontaneously for you.
In short, in order to be able to bend rules, one would have to grasp the rules first. It’s great if you could strum your guitar by ear, it is a talent. Steve Krenz shows off this skill in his course, Learn & Master Guitar. You can be a wonderful guitar player just by having that talent to recognize notes and put them together without using music sheets. So as to genuinely master playing the guitar, you have to be ttrained with music theory. If you come up with your own music, then it will make sharing your music to other guitarists easier because you are speaking the same language and are learned with the “grammar” or technicalities of music. Real talent however, can never be replaced or substituted even if you are familiar with the different notes of music like the back of your hand.
Still, having the discipline to master music theory is not enough to make an artist out of a musician, however, it can at least teach you how to play good music. Inspired music can someday become good music. Consistency and hard work will finally pay off at the closing stages in the end.
