How A Goth Might Decorate Her Home

Unless you have a daughter or a son who is a goth or are one yourself, you can only guess about how he might decorate his house or apartment. You can make a pretty good stab at it, though, judging from the clothes they wear.

It's fairly obvious that the color of choice for gothics is black. Their entire wardrobe (and many of them have large ones) is black. They even wear black lipstick. The only things that break up this color scheme are their silver jewelry and the occasional touch of vermilion. It's not too much of a stretch to conclude that a goth would have a black dining room set with an ornate silver candelabra in their home.

Naturally, their china set would also be black. Their silverware would be heavy silver and very ornate. They may even have antique silver. Just think about a old movie about Dracula and what the dining room in his castle was like and you get the idea.

We're talking about a very wealthy goth here, so it's safe to say that the furniture in their living room would all be of only the best quality. They might even have a custom made coffee table that has been designed to a gothic theme by an expert metal worker. Their couches would be made of the finest materials and of course they would be black. The TV would be a flat screen, since there are not many Victorian era televisions on the market.

The same color scheme, if that's what you call it, would apply in the bedroom. If they didn't have a black four poster bed, it would probably be a black full size loft bed.

The reason for the loft bed would be because they long to sleep hanging from the ceiling, like bats. Not being bats, however, and not having the power to change into them, they would settle for the next best option: to sleep close to the ceiling.

The gothic subculture is a fascinating one. When it first burst on the scene, nobody thought it would last, but it has. There are gothics in virtually every major city in the world. They don't mingle with outsiders much, so they are little understood and many people even fear them.

The rumors about them abound. Some say they are part of a satanic cult. Others say they are nihilists. Believe it or not, you may have one working with you in your office. Many goths save their gothic styles for the weekends and wear regular clothes throughout the week.

They may not live in homes that are decorated like the imaginary one described above. As a matter of fact, it's a good bet that most of them do not. Most goths are still living with their parents, who probably are not all that into black. The fact that they are interesting, though, makes it fun to have goth neighbors, even if you never get the opportunity to learn what really makes them tick.

Frequently Asked Questions...

Tidy repair to white high gloss wood?

I am buying a white high gloss wall unit, but I will not install one of the shelves for 'design' reasons, and to be able to fit the TV in!

Assuming that structurally the unit will be sound, which I know it is, The problem will be that I end up with 2 holes showing. these are where the shevles screws were supposed to be!

Any ideas how to fill them neatly, without causing any disturbance to white high gloss finish, especially that I will be paying some money for that.

I don't want to be looking into holes in my unit all the time!

Thanks for the help!

Answer:

If it's that troublesome, fill the holes neatly with white caulk. The holes should be small enough that it won't take away from the over-all glossy appearance.

good luck
